We are now a family of FOUR!!!
Welcome RYAN PATRICK GOSSETT!!! Born June 29th and weighing 7lbs 4oz.
Since I have been SO behind on the blogging since becoming pregnant I will tryt o update on pregnancy and our newborn baby all in one!
We found out we were expecting baby number 2 in November of 2011 and we were so excited! We shared the news with our families over the Christmas holiday and they could not have been happier. My pregnancy went very smoothly, just like with Carson, thank goodness. I will say I was more tired throughout the whole 9 months, but I am pretty sure that is because I was also running after a toddler! :) I had no morning sickness and was able to be active throughout the pregnancy. We found out we were having a boy at our 12 week ultrasound and we were thrilled! We certainly were not as prepared with this pregnancy as we were with Carson, for example the nursery STILL isn't completed! :) My wonderful friends and family helped "sprinkle" Baby Ryan with gifts at a shower in early June and it was wonderful!
And then things got fun! Around 32 weeks, my OB recommended that I cut back on my walking, without giving TMI -I was having lots of braxton hicks contractions so they checked my cervix and I had already begun to have some pretty significant changes. So, the recommendation was to cut back on any extra exercise until I was full term. But, I still felt great and was by no means worried about anything. At my 36 week appointment everything still looked great-although the OB did tell me he thought our baby would be coming early-they always say that right??? He scheduled me for an induction at 39 weeks as all the ultrasounds we had had were showing our baby boy to be on the large side-planning for another 9 pound baby!! After all, Carson was over 9 pounds herself! Little did we know our little man had his own plans! ;)
At 36 weeks and 6 days our little boy decided he was ready to come into this world and he was NOT waiting any longer! I could not have had an easier labor and for that I am grateful! I had taken a few days off of work in order to do things in the nursery and get organized, IE: get ready for this baby without chasing a toddler around the house as well! :)
On Friday, June 29th it was the first really hot day-over 100 degrees! I had been running errands all day and felt great-tired, but great! I picked up Carson from school and we came home and played for a little while. I began having more "braxton hicks contractions" around 6pm and started drinking lots of water and laid down for a bit after Jason got home. Then I helped put Carson to bed and around 8:30 since the contractions weren't going away and weren't slowing down, I put in a call to my OB. My OB said to continue resting and drinking water and to come into the hospital if things got more intense or the contractions got closer together. The contractions were about 10-12 minutes apart but were not too intense and I definitely didn't think it was truly labor because, after all, I wasn't even full term yet. ;) I then took a shower and tried to relax. At around 9:15 I called a friend to come over because I thought we may be going to the hospital to get things checked out-still not thinking a baby was coming! I told Jason to START packing a hospital bag for us(again not ready for baby to come!), just in case. When our friend got to our house things started picking up and we decided it was time to go to the hospital and get checked out! We left for the hospital around 10:00pm. After a 20 minute ride to the hospital, I checked in at labor and delivery-my OB was waiting for me when I got off the elevator-thank goodness! I was checked out in triage and was found to be 10 cm and baby Ryan was coming in a hurry!!! WHOA!!! From the time we got to the hospital until Ryan was born was only 17 MINUTES!!! I pushed for a total of 8 minutes- it was a whirlwind and we were very surprised! But he was a healthy baby boy and weighed in at 7 pounds 4 ounces and 20 and 3/4 inches long--surprising the NICU team as his weight was much more than usual preterm babies! He checked out perfect-for the first 12 hours he did have some breathing trouble but just had to be suctioned a little extra due to such a fast delivery. We were so thankful for a quick, easy delivery and a strong, healthy baby!
We are in love all over again! Love truly just multiplies as our family continues to grow! We can't wait to see what challenges and joys being a family of FOUR brings! So far-we are loving every minute!
And I will try to blog a little more ;)
