RPG One Month

Oh my, Ryan is one month old already! Time is really flying. Jason and I have said to each other many times, "can you believe 4 weeks have already passed??" And I have on many occasions said "can you believe I have been on maternity leave for FOUR weeks???" I think time is going by quicker with Ryan than it did with Carson. I also think that is because we have a toddler to play with and take care of too. :)

Ryan at one month...

Weight 9 lbs 15 oz, Length 21.5 inches (approx 50% for both)
His demeanor is great-never fussy! He enjoys naps in the swing, just like his sister did! He has been sleeping in his crib and in our room in a rock and play seat. He eats about every 3 hours at night and during the day. We have gotten a few 4 hour stretches and one 5 hour stretch! But, our main "issue" is that Ryan is a grunter! He has a lot of gas and he grunts, squirms, and groans when trying to get it out and when trying to go poo! This keeps us up at night- sometimes he sleeps through it and sometimes it wakes him up. He loves to sleep on our chest-bad habit, I know! But we love the snuggles.

He continues to wear most newborn size clothes and we moved him into Size 1 diapers on his 4 week birthday. He is growing and FAST!!

His sister loves him so much! And for that we are grateful! She asks about "baby" right when she wakes up every morning and right when she gets home from school every afternoon! It is so sweet---although she does love to pull out his paci and take his blankie off of him! She thinks doing those two things are SO funny. So we are working on that.

Pictures to come soon... :)

Welcome Ryan Patrick!

We are now a family of FOUR!!!

Welcome RYAN PATRICK GOSSETT!!! Born June 29th and weighing 7lbs 4oz.

Since I have been SO behind on the blogging since becoming pregnant I will tryt o update on pregnancy and our newborn baby all in one!

We found out we were expecting baby number 2 in November of 2011 and we were so excited! We shared the news with our families over the Christmas holiday and they could not have been happier. My pregnancy went very smoothly, just like with Carson, thank goodness. I will say I was more tired throughout the whole 9 months, but I am pretty sure that is because I was also running after a toddler! :) I had no morning sickness and was able to be active throughout the pregnancy. We found out we were having a boy at our 12 week ultrasound and we were thrilled! We certainly were not as prepared with this pregnancy as we were with Carson, for example the nursery STILL isn't completed! :) My wonderful friends and family helped "sprinkle" Baby Ryan with gifts at a shower in early June and it was wonderful!

And then things got fun! Around 32 weeks, my OB recommended that I cut back on my walking, without giving TMI -I was having lots of braxton hicks contractions so they checked my cervix and I had already begun to have some pretty significant changes. So, the recommendation was to cut back on any extra exercise until I was full term. But, I still felt great and was by no means worried about anything. At my 36 week appointment everything still looked great-although the OB did tell me he thought our baby would be coming early-they always say that right??? He scheduled me for an induction at 39 weeks as all the ultrasounds we had had were showing our baby boy to be on the large side-planning for another 9 pound baby!! After all, Carson was over 9 pounds herself! Little did we know our little man had his own plans! ;)

At 36 weeks and 6 days our little boy decided he was ready to come into this world and he was NOT waiting any longer! I could not have had an easier labor and for that I am grateful! I had taken a few days off of work in order to do things in the nursery and get organized, IE: get ready for this baby without chasing a toddler around the house as well! :)

On Friday, June 29th it was the first really hot day-over 100 degrees! I had been running errands all day and felt great-tired, but great! I picked up Carson from school and we came home and played for a little while. I began having more "braxton hicks contractions" around 6pm and started drinking lots of water and laid down for a bit after Jason got home. Then I helped put Carson to bed and around 8:30 since the contractions weren't going away and weren't slowing down, I put in a call to my OB. My OB said to continue resting and drinking water and to come into the hospital if things got more intense or the contractions got closer together. The contractions were about 10-12 minutes apart but were not too intense and I definitely didn't think it was truly labor because, after all, I wasn't even full term yet. ;) I then took a shower and tried to relax. At around 9:15 I called a friend to come over because I thought we may be going to the hospital to get things checked out-still not thinking a baby was coming! I told Jason to START packing a hospital bag for us(again not ready for baby to come!), just in case. When our friend got to our house things started picking up and we decided it was time to go to the hospital and get checked out! We left for the hospital around 10:00pm. After a 20 minute ride to the hospital, I checked in at labor and delivery-my OB was waiting for me when I got off the elevator-thank goodness! I was checked out in triage and was found to be 10 cm and baby Ryan was coming in a hurry!!! WHOA!!! From the time we got to the hospital until Ryan was born was only 17 MINUTES!!! I pushed for a total of 8 minutes- it was a whirlwind and we were very surprised! But he was a healthy baby boy and weighed in at 7 pounds 4 ounces and 20 and 3/4 inches long--surprising the NICU team as his weight was much more than usual preterm babies! He checked out perfect-for the first 12 hours he did have some breathing trouble but just had to be suctioned a little extra due to such a fast delivery. We were so thankful for a quick, easy delivery and a strong, healthy baby!

We are in love all over again! Love truly just multiplies as our family continues to grow! We can't wait to see what challenges and joys being a family of FOUR brings! So far-we are loving every minute!

And I will try to blog a little more ;)

Wow, how do I begin to play catch up???...Carson lately!

SO, I left off with Carson at 10 months and now she is 18 months old!!! I am a terrible blogger!!

So to catch up on Carson...
We celebrated her FIRST birthday with a small party at our house that was cupcake themed- and she loved it! She received lots of great gifts and enjoyed time with lots of friends.

Carson continues to grow, change, and amaze us each and every day. She is a true blessing and joy.

At 18 months...
-Carson is talking ALOT! She has a vocabulary filled with more words than I can count! And I love it! She repeats every word we say-I think hearing her try to say squirrel, thunder or elephant might be the cutest ;)

-She continues to sleep 12 hours a night 7pm-about 7am sometimes later on weekends! And is still a great napper. She takes one nap a day around 12:30 and lasting anywhere from 2-4 hours-sometimes we have to wake her up!

-She loves animals and animal noises! She knows the noises of most animals-ducks, dogs, cats, elephants, monkeys, cows, frogs, snakes, and I am sure I am forgetting some.

-She loves being outside-playing in the sprinkler, playing in her baby pool and splash table, swimming in the neighborhood pool, going for walks, and playing at the park. And she loves to watch daddy swing his golf club and hit golf balls!

-She also loves to dance!!! Whenever music comes on she stops what she is doing and starts to dance-so CUTE! I must get a video of it!

-She loves puzzles! And it amazes me how well she can match the pieces and put them back in the right spots! She also loves playing with blocks and building towers! Her new favorite toy is her baby doll and stroller-she pushes it all around the house.

-She has started running! And loves to be chased or to chase us around and play hide-and-seek!

-She is a great eater! Her likes are chicken nuggets, turkey meatballs, mac n cheese, and deli meats. Her absolute favorite things are yogurt, avocado, cheese and ANY kind of fruit! Right now she is loving fresh strawberries and blueberries! I have been trying to introduce more varieties of meats, but she can be picky about trying new things, so we have to be a little creative. ;) But not too bad in my opinion.

-She also is now a BIG SISTER and loves her baby brother! She hasn't quite mastered saying his name, Ryan, but she asks about "baby" from the time she wakes up until the time she goes to bed. She gets home from "School" and asks "baby?" and starts walking around looking for him and when she finds him, she squeals in delight! She kisses him night-night before bed and has overall, transitioned well! Don't get me wrong though, there are a few extra tantrums-but, I am not convinced they are baby related-I think it may just be her age :)

All in all, Carson is a huge delight. We love being her parents and enjoy having her in our lives each and everyday!

Now for some pictures...
Approx. 12 months old, seems like yesterday!

Loves being outside!

At the park!

Last weekend as a family of THREE!

Behind...just a little :)

So, I got a little behind on the blogging. Oops. I guess that is to be expected. I promise to update all soon, but in short my reasons for being behind are as follows...

1, I absolutely LOVE playing with our oh so busy ONE year old! She is growing, changing and learning new things all the time, oh and she is getting curious about everything!!!

2, As most of the readers probably already know, we are expecting another Baby Gossett in just a few months(July to be exact)!!! (probably the main reason I haven't blogged) I have been going to bed super early and just feeling like relaxing after a full day of work and full afternoon playing with Carson. But more details on the baby BOY coming soon :)

3, I can't seem to figure out how 24 hours in a day go by so quickly. :)

More blog updates to come soon!!! I hope...

Carson at TEN Months!!

WOW! We are quickly approaching the 1 year mark! And we LOVE it! Carson continues to be such a gift. She brings so much love to our home.

At TEN months Carson....
-Continues to sleep great-she takes 2 2hr naps a day and sleeps from around 7pm until 6:30 am and sometimes later on the weekends :) Of course, naps are always shorter at daycare ;)

-She LOVES to eat!!! She has 4 bottles a day-a 6 oz one in the morning and then 4 oz at 10, 2 and bedtime. She also eats 2 meals and 2 snacks a day. She is fully on the daycare menu, which still shocks me as I circle what she can have each day-As I cannot find much that she can't have :) She is certainly growing up! Some of her favorite foods are- anything carbs(like her mommy), taco meat, goldfish, cheerios and cheese! She also loves crackers-really anything crunchy!

-She really wants to walk! I don't think I am ready for that milestone haha! She walks all around our house with her walker toys, and she goes fast! We also let her walk outside with her toys and, as always, she loves being outside! As for her mobility, her crawling speed has reached an all time high!

-I am pretty sure she has a new tooth everytime I look in her mouth-the count is now up to 7(4 on top and at least 3 on bottom)!! And still drooling all the time! :)

-She loves her sippy cup full of water! She still gets soaked just about everytime she drinks out of it because she doesn't quite have it figured out to stop and swallow-she gets choked up sometimes.

-She can now climb an entire flight of stairs!!!! This is scary! But she loves to do it!---Baby gates have definitely been put up now! :)

-She absolutely adores her daddy! She starts bouncing up and down every night when he gets home from work and she gets the biggest grin on her face! I love it, I think it's my favorite time of the day too! :)

-Her favorite "words" are dadadadada, and sometimes I can make out maamama-but mostly just repeats dada all the time!

-She is starting to enter the dreaded stranger anxiety stage :( She used to let just about anyone hold her, but now if mommy or daddy are in sight those are the only people that she will let hold her. I love it and hate it at the same time. Although she still does great with daycare drop off!

-Her laughs are some of the sweetest sounds! They make me smile and laugh with her everytime! She continues to love clapping her hands when she gets excited too. :)

-She loves the Christmas tree and lights! Her favorite "decoration" is a small musical, dancing Santa that sings "Here Comes Santa Claus" She sits beside it and dances with it and grins from ear to ear!...I can't wait to see what Christmas morning will be like :)

We continue to enjoy each and everyday with our little girl. She amazes us with new things all the time!

Carson at NINE months!!!

On October 21st Carson turned 9 months old! (again, I am a little late on the posting!) She is on the GO for sure! She is growing and learning new things everyday! It is absolutely amazing to see things somewhat through her eyes and watch as she figures things out.

At nine months-
-Carson is crawling, and crawling FAST! She goes everywhere and can actually start to climb the stairs!!! EEKKKK!
-She claps her hands when she gets excited! She has been clapping for about a month now, but now I really think she knows to clap when she is excited or happy.
-She continues to be a great sleeper, she sleeps from around 7pm until 7am. And usually will take two naps a day of about 1-2 hours each. It's great!
-She continues to LOVE to eat! She takes 4 bottles a day 4-6 ounces and loves finger foods! We started finger foods at around 8 months and she digs in at every mealtime. Her favorites are deli meats, fruit(pears/apples/bananas), gerber snack cheetos, and her absolute favorite is CHEESE! I think she could give up formula sooner rather than later if I let her. haha.
-She finally got her first tooth/teeth on her 9 month birthday! And because one tooth isn't enough she got about 4 in one weekend! All 4 on the top too! And still no bottom teeth! But she does also have her lower right incisor tooth popping through! (No pictures of these teeth yet!
-She had her first fever around 8 and 1/2 months and we had our first sick doctor's visit :( She ended up having a UTI and let me tell you-watching your baby have urine collected is NOT fun!!! We were all crying!
-She LOVES to creep along all of the furniture! And her newest trick is to walk around and push our kitchen table chairs around the kitchen and living room. It is the cutest thing!
-Another thing I love about this stage is that I walk into her room after nap times and find Carson standing in her crib babbling! I think we will be lowering the crib again very soon!
-As for her babbling-she loves to "talk", she mainly sticks to "dada" but will sometimes get going with mamamamama and she also sounds out the letter T and we aren't sure what she is trying to say. But we love to talk back to her and have "converstations" :)
-Carson has started to really dislike diaper changes and changing her clothes! She has gotten really good at trying to roll over!!
-At her nine month well check her stats were:
Weight: 21 pounds even and Length: 28 and 3/4 inches
We have a growing girl!!! They told us she was about the 85% for all categories.

I am sure that I am forgetting lots of things that have happened this month, but as I mentioned earlier-she continues to grow and develop and change all the time and is a complete joy in our lives! We LOVE our little girl to pieces and just can't get enough of her!

-----I know I said I would post pics on my last post a month ago, but I really am going to devote an entire post to pictures next time and very soon! ;)

Waaaay Overdue! Carson at 7/8 months!

SO we have obviously been BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!!

At SEVEN months(8/21/11) Carson continued to be an awesome baby! She learned how to "crawl" in her own fashion(more on that later), she enjoyed LOTS of new foods, she went to the beach, remains toothless, and love to play!
-At seven months she slept from around 7pm to 6:30 am(we have to wake her up some mornings so that we can get to work! And takes 2 naps at daycare with a catnap on the ride home in the afternoon!
-She loves to paly with everything in sight that is not meant to be a toy---cardboard boxes are a favorite, as are water bottles, the wipes containers and wipes packages.
-GIGGLES oh so much! and we love it-she has become so ticklish-especially when daddy gets her belly with his unshaven face!!! :) Love it!
-She continues to love sophie the teething giraffe-but as I said earlier-no teeth!
-Weight is on the home scale 18 lbs and 9oz!
-She eats 4 5-6 oz bottles a day and has lunch, an afternoon snack and dinner with pureed foods. She has started to find some things she dislikes-prunes, zucchinni, broccoli-but she does like broccoli if you mix it with sweet potatoes! Really almost anything mixed with sweet potatoes. And she LOVES-carrots, peas, green beans, apples, bananas, mango, peaches and really any fruit!

AND since I am soooo far behind---
At EIGHT months(9/21/11) Carson continues to be a mommy's girl and is so much fun! Her hair has started growing some more and I can't wait to really be able to keep a bow in it. She continues to be on the move! She is pulling up on EVERYTHING!!!! and loves to "crawl" all around.
-She weighs at home about 19 pounds 6 ounces.
-We had to take her to the doctor for her first "sick" visit, for her first diaper rash with a bad case of diarrhea. :( But it healed up in about 24 hrs with her special cream!
-SHe still sleeps from about 7-6:30 and takes two naps, on a good day, at daycare. Some days she is hust having too much fun to take that second nap! :) But then she of course goes to bed much earlier or takes that nap on the way home!
-She still has 4 bottle a day 5-6 ounces-sometimes only taking around 4 ounces. And now eats a morning and afternoon snack and lunch and dinner. She loves her food-I honestly think if we would, she would switch to just real food and forget the bottle without thinking twice! She loves all flavors of Puffs and Yogurt melts. Daycare tells us they think she's ready for more finger foods too! She loves to eat!
-Still toothless! :) But I love her gum-filled smiles!
-We have caught her standing in her crib-makes me realize she is really growing fast!
-She is still a mommas girl and I love it!!!

She continues to bring us more joy every single day! Jaosn and I are so lucky to have her in our lives! We are so thankful for each and every day with her!

-----Pictures to come :)
